Last season was one of pure joy for Premier League winners Leicester City, while former top-flight regulars Fulham finished just two spots above relegation from the Championship.

But one ambitious punter is expecting the duo’s fortunes to flip this season, with an eye-catching #WhatAreTheOdds bet of Fulham to make the play-offs and Leicester to be relegated at 33/1.

So, is there a strong case behind this selection, or are this pair set to let our fan down?

The early signs are good for the side of this bet focused on Craven Cottage. Fulham have won their opening two Championship fixtures, seeing off title favourites Newcastle United and a resilient Preston North End.

Having bought well this summer, with the likes of Togo international Floyd Ayite and former FA Cup finalist Sone Aluko joining the Cottagers, boss Slavisa Jokanovic looks set to rekindle the club’s spark – so a play-off berth looks a solid prediction.

On the surface, relegation for the Foxes looks highly unlikely. No team has suffered the drop the year after being crowned champions of England since Manchester City in 1937-38, and while Leicester are unlikely to repeat last season’s heroics – could they really go down?

Well, they looked destined for relegation before a late rally in 2014-15, and the core of that side is largely the same as the one heading into this season – with the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy, Danny Drinkwater, Wes Morgan all part of a side who picked up two points from 13 games during a barren run that season.

That fact makes the 9/1 on Leicester relegation this season look tempting in and of itself, and means this 33/1 shot could well prove an inspired selection.

Fulham are next in action at Leeds tomorrow night, with 15/8 for the west London outfit to win, having taken four points from their last two visits to Elland Road.
