Ross McCormack’s uncertain situation at Aston Villa desperately needs a solution, and according to breaking reports, Nottingham Forest might just be the saviour for all parties.

McCormack has endured a very public falling out with Villa and boss Steve Bruce, over a refusal to train.

The Scotland international claims he has failed to settle in the Midlands, since moving up from Fulham for £12m last summer.

But Bruce isn’t a man to be messed around, and has made clear that the 30-year-old won’t feature for the Villans unless he changes his attitude.

With 66 Championship goals in the last three seasons however, McCormack offers a great potential for any prospective buyer.

Forest sit just five points above the drop zone, and have been linked with several players today, including former defender Luke Chambers.

The two-time European Cup winners are yet to appoint a permanent successor to Philippe Montanier.

But it appears owner Fawar Al-Hasawi may sanction a few deals today, in order to enhance his chances of persuading a manager to take on the job at the City Ground.

And we make Forest 4/6 favourites to land the Villa forward before today is over. Middlesbrough and Rangers are next in the betting at 6/1.

Having splashed out big money on McCormack just six months ago however, it seems Forest would need to pay something similar to Villa’s £12m outlay.

But given his record in the second-tier, that could be something Forest feel is worth investing in.

The former Premier League club could desperately use a win, and will hope to claim one tonight when Rotherham visit.

We make the hosts 3/4 favourites for a much-needed three points.
