Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo has revolutionised the club’s squad this summer with 11 new arrivals. But there could be more big-name arrivals at Molineux, with the club pursuing Jordan Rhodes and Nahki Wells.
Despite only signing a permanent deal with Sheffield Wednesday earlier this summer, it’s believed Rhodes – who first joined the Owls on loan in January – could already be set for an exit from Hillsborough.
Wolves are one of several clubs interested, with Leeds United now emerging as serious contenders for the Scotland international’s services. Santo appears to have identified an excellent Plan B in Wells, though.
The Huddersfield Town striker has missed the early part of the Terriers’ Premier League campaign with injury, but reports suggest that hasn’t dampened Wolves’ interest in the player, who has an exceptional strike record at Championship level.
Wells has reached double figures in the second-tier in three successive seasons, including a 17-goal haul in 2015-16.
However, newly-promoted Huddersfield have signed new strikers in the form of Steve Mounie and Laurent Depoitre, as well as making Elias Kachunga’s loan deal permanent. That means game time at the John Smith’s Stadium will likely prove much tougher to come by for the Bermudan International.
As for the Black Country club, they could soon be joining the Premier League ranks, having started the Championship campaign with three wins from four games.
Wolves’ next league game is a trip to Brentford on Saturday, with 8/5 for the men in black and gold to take all three points.
But could we see Wells or even Rhodes stepping out for the visitors at Griffin Park?
