Fast starters Forest top value to loot Brighton in curtain raiser

Brighton and Nottingham Forest pop the lid on a brand new season of Championship football and although they’re at home, the Seagulls’ recent history of sluggish starts lends attraction to the visitors.

In truth, both clubs endured underwhelming campaigns in 2014/15 and will be hoping for big improvements on 20th and 14th-place finishes respectively.

Forest will hope to add consistency this term after setting an early pace in the second tier over the first few months last season – where they were unbeaten until mid-October.

It’s the Reds’ tradition for getting out the blocks – they’ve won their opening fixtures over the last three seasons – compared to Brighton who’ve lost the same amount, which punters may wish to side with.

Dougie Freedman’s charges are 11/5 outsiders to take the points back to the City Ground, the draw is 23/10 and Chris Hughton’s hosts are a little short as 5/4 favourites.

Given the the lack of any competitive form to base a wager on, this contrasting trend in curtain-raisers of late feels like the best method of attack for Ladbrokes customers.

It is also worth noting that Forest did perform a successful raid on the south coast last season too, leaving the Amex Stadium as 3-2 victors in February.

Meanwhile, those who prefer more of an insurance policy with their bets, the Midlands outfit look very well priced at 5/4 with the draw omitted, or at 8/13 to achieve either positive result in double chance.

With a couple of pre-season strikes to his name already, Henri Lansbury looks among the best scorer picks at 15/4, especially having graced the scoresheet on his club’s last Amex visit.
