After several months of financial uncertainty resulting in a loss of Neil Warnock, the redundancy of 29 staff and a relegation dogfight, Crystal Palace are out of administration and back in the hunt for new players.

The news, which comes as a huge relief not just to Palace fans but to teams in the same predicament, was posted on the club’s official website by administrator Brendan Guilfoyle.

More good news for Palace fans comes in the form of Edgar Davids, currently in training with the squad with an eye on a permanent move now the embargo has been lifted.

The 37-year-old hasn’t featured in a competitive game for two seasons but has been training with Ajax in preparation for a comeback.

But even at his age, a fit Edgar Davids would bolster any Championship squad and if he were to join, expect the 20/1 for Palace to win promotion to be cut dramatically.

George Burley’s side continue their Championship campaign at home to Ipswich on Saturday and Ipswich striker Pablo Counago is holding talks with Palace with a view to joining them on a season long loan.

Counago has yet to feature under Roy Keane this season and could be reunited with Burley in order to bolster the Palace attack, however even if the deal is completed in time he won’t be able to face Ipswich.

With a new strike partner and the addition of Edgar David’s quality behind him, expect main striker Alan Lee to start hitting the back of the net.

With two goals from three League starts already this season, Lee has an outside chance of making the Championship top scorer leader board and at odds of 80/1, proves great each way value.

The signing of Edgar Davids would booster Palace’s chance of promotion. Back them now at 20/1 before it’s too late. See the full 2011 Championship promotion market.
