Could Man United legend be heading for Aston Villa managerial hotseat?

While Steve Bruce and David Wagner head the next permanent Aston Villa manager market, there’s a Manchester United legend whose odds have been slashed in half to just 6/1 this morning.

And given that Swansea City have recently decided against the idea of taking on Ryan Giggs as boss in favour of Bob Bradley, the managerial post at Villa Park is arguably the next best thing for the 42-year-old.

Since retiring in 2013, Giggs has spent the last three seasons at his boyhood club, working under both David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

However, the arrival of Jose Mourinho meant the Welshman had to pack his bags and look for a new club, only this time he wants the main gig.

Given that Bruce has links with bitter rivals Birmingham City and Wagner’s Huddersfield Town are currently sitting at the top of the table, owner Dr Tony Xia may well decide to (in the famous words of Andy Tate) “give it Giggsy ‘til the end of the season.”

Elsewhere, odds have also been cut on former Villa assistant Roy Keane, who’s now 20/1 from 33s yesterday.

And Keane has a history of turning relegation strugglers’ fortunes around, leading Sunderland from 23rd in the table to promotion back in the 2006-07 campaign.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Giggsy may well have found a club willing to give him a chance in the hotseat, at least that’s what the odds are staring to suggest.”

So, what do Villa fans think? Is Giggs the man to lead your club back to the top-flight? Have your say in the comments section below.
