It wasn’t their most convincing win of the season, but QPR’s hard-fought win over Crystal Palace has seen them move well ahead of the chasing pack at the top of the Championship.

A brace from Heidar Helguson gave QPR a massive win against the Championship strugglers and put them ten points ahead of second placed Swansea City who lost away to Derby County.

The Hoops are huge favourites at 3/10 to win the Championship, but Neil Warnock is refusing to get carried away despite being ten points clear with just nine games remaining.

“It’s difficult for me against Palace. I really don’t enjoy games against them, but I wanted my players to enjoy it.

“You’ve got to give Palace credit. They fought for their lives, scored a goal – sloppy from our point of view – but we started again and in the end could have scored more goals.

“We’ve won five out of six matches and that takes some doing given the teams we’ve played against, so I’m really happy.

“It’s hard to believe it’s just over a year since we took over here. It’s not a straightforward job – it never is at QPR and hasn’t been this season – but when you get a game and an atmosphere like that, it’s all worth it.

“When you’ve been in the game as long as I have, you don’t get carried away when you win games or when you lose them. I said the same after we lost to Millwall in midweek.”

However, that Millwall defeat is the only match QPR have lost in their previous 12 clashes and – while Warnock is not counting his chickens – it’s hard to see beyond the Hoops for the title at 3/10.

Swansea are currently at 9/1 to win the Championship. A £25 bet on that would provide a £225 profit. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
