Championship acca: Watford and Middlesbrough lead the punt

Sticking a couple of quid on a 15 team accumulator is something most football punters have done at one time or another but, whilst the rewards are often hundreds of thousands of pounds, it almost inevitably ends up with the bet going horribly wrong before the half-time oranges have even been cut.

That’s why this week’s Championship accumulator is a tidy three-way featuring a home win, an away win and a draw (a result always certain to bump up the price on any coupon).

It boasts odds of just under 17/1 which, whilst not of mortgage vanquishing proportions, would definitely pay for a few Christmas presents…

Watford to beat Hull @ 11/8

The Hornets have been flying in recent weeks and have now gone seven Championship games without tasting defeat.

They’ve hit four in each of their last two (4-1 maulings of Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley) and face a team who have lost all four of their Championship away games against teams currently occupying the top half of the table.

It should be close but, backing Watford to get three points and climb above Hull in the table looks the bet here.

Middlesbrough to beat Peterborough @ 1/1

Middlesbrough haven’t exactly been firing recently, losing three of their last four matches and slipping to fourth in the Championship table.

None of that should matter against a sorry Peterborough side who are rooted to the foot of the Championship table and haven’t won in seven games, losing six of them.

They have the worst home record in the division and have conceded an average of two goals-per-game at London Road. The 1/1 offered looks a very decent price for Tony Mowbray’s men to get a much-needed win.

Crystal Palace to draw with Blackpool @ 5/2

Ian Holloway faces Blackpool for the first time since he left the Seasiders for the Eagles earlier in the season.

Palace are on a high following their 3-0 victory against not-so-local rivals Brighton last weekend but face a Blackpool side who are on a six-game unbeaten run.

With four of those ending in a draw and the added incentive of getting one over on their old boss, a draw looks very much on the cards.
