Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is calling it a coup and he’s not far wrong as Poland international Artur Boruc joins the Cherries on loan until January from Southampton.
Having seen his place in the Saints’ starting XI swallowed up by Fraser Forster’s arrival from Celtic this summer, Boruc has clearly taken the drop down a level to ensure he sees plenty of minutes.
As a result of this news, Ladbrokes have reacted with one of their breaking bets on the move.
Watford have failed to score in two of their three away games to date, while they required a penalty to overcome seriously struggling Blackpool in their other road game to date.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth’s case for sticking Boruc straight into the action is made stronger by the fact regular number one Lee Camp has only managed a single clean sheet in his last six appearances.
The Polish stopper finished last season in fine fettle between the sticks too.
Boruc kept four clean sheets in his last seven Premier League games to round off an impressive campaign in the Southampton net.
On Boruc’s arrival, Howe was full of enthusiasm. “He was Southampton’s first-choice goalkeeper in the Premier League last season, he kept a number of clean sheets and performed very well.
“For a Championship club to sign a goalkeeper who performed very well in the Premier League last season is a major coup for us.”
