There’s a full complement of Championship games this Saturday, but it’s Nottingham Forest’s trip to Swansea that’s undoubtedly the stand-out clash.
After hitting some brilliant form after Christmas, things haven’t gone quite to plan for Forest in recent weeks. Billy Davies’ side haven’t won in six Championship games (drawing four and losing two) meaning that rather than pushing for automatic promotion, they’re hanging on to the play-off places.
Meanwhile, Swansea’s good run has also stuttered and they are without a win in three.
These sides have played each other 11 times over the past six seasons with Forest winning four, the Swans two and five finishing level. With two teams desperate not to lose any more momentum, backing a draw at 23/10 looks well worth a bet.
Hull City v Norwich City
Norwich – who overtook Swansea in second place following their 3-1 Monday night win over Bristol City – face a tough task against a Hull side who have beaten Forest and Coventry in recent weeks.
However, the Tigers have only the 18th best home record in the league and have lost their last two at the KC Stadium. With the Canaries boasting the best away record in the whole division, Paul Lambert’s team look set to consolidate their position in the automatic promotion places.
Back Norwich to win this one at a very tempting 15/8.
Sheffield United v Leeds United
At the other end of the table, Sheffield United are fighting for their Championship lives in this Saturday’s lunch time kick-off.
They face a Leeds side who are just five points behind fellow Championship new-boys Norwich in second. With the Blades winning just one of their previous 16 Championship games, it’s hard to see beyond a Leeds win at 11/10.
