Cristiano Ronaldo has created a stir with his public sulk after being subbed off in Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw at Las Palmas on Saturday. And now it seems the petulant Portuguese wizard could be set to exit Madrid for a return to Manchester.
The 31-year-old has seen his odds of a return to the Premier League in the next year fall to 11/4, with Manchester United 6/1 favourites to return a former fan favourite to Old Trafford, having already bought back former youth prodigy Paul Pogba this summer.
However, while Ronaldo remains revered by the Red Devils faithful, he could turn from hero to hated if he moves to bitter rivals Manchester City at 7/1.
Real are back in action against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night, with Zinedine Zidane 5/2 to haul off the three-time Ballon d’Or winner for the second successive game.
If that happens, the bookies could be scrambling to cut the 20/1 for the former Sporting Lisbon man to return to Man United in the January transfer window.
A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Real boss Zidane won’t be happy with his winger’s whingeing this week and if things remain rocky, he could head back to the Premier League in a huff.”
It’s 7/4 for Los Blancos to win in Germany, but even three points might not be enough to heal the tension between these two world-famous names.
