The pressure will be on Arsenal as they bid to reach the quarter finals of the Champions League for the first time in five years today, and they will have to go some to overturn a 3-1 deficit in Monaco.

But one man the Gunners will be looking towards to deliver is Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean appeared to be the chief motivational speaker ahead of their 3-0 victory over West Ham at the weekend.

“We must maintain a winning mentality”, the former Barcelona man was quoted as saying.

“If a footballer goes on the pitch with the right mentality, he will perform well.”

And with that kind of optimism ahead of the London side’s last 16 clash, we’ve boosted the forward to walk-the-walk.

From 8am on Tuesday we will be boosting Sanchez from 6/1 to 7/1 to open the scoring at the Stade Louis II.

Arsene Wenger will be keen to secure a come-from-behind aggregate victory against his former club, and his star man possesses just the armoury to lead the line.

With 17 goals in all competitions since his move to these shores, Sanchez has certainly hit the ground running, and recently professed how he was loving life in England.

Nine of those goals have opened the scoring, so taking the chance that he breaks the deadlock looks well worth it.

It may not be on the Gunners mind specifically but Geoffrey Kondogbia’s strike to put the Principality Club in front at the Emirates was the only time in 14 matches that Arsenal have failed to score first.

With Sanchez sounding like he is fired up for a run in front of goal, it would take a brave man to bet against the team from Ashburton Grove getting that momentum in Europe going once again.
