Matt Holt v Paul King: Top tipsters call Barcelona v Man City

Tonight sees another thrilling evening of European football, and that means another night of top-tipping (hopefully) from Matt Holt and Paul King.

Our intrepid pair have spotted plenty of opportunities to turn a profit with Barcelona v Man City naturally taking the headlines.

Here’s what they’ve gone for tonight…

BEST BET: Messi, Suarez and Aguero: Any Two to Score – 6/4

Not sure I can stress how much value this is. Between them, MSA (if you will) have scored 28 goals this season – more than every side in the Premier League and La Liga.

As well as that, the trio have scored eight goals in the Champions League proper so far; whilst Aguero also scored three at Steaua Bucaresti in the play-off round.

As far as their H2Hs go, Suarez has netted twice against City and Aguero has scored once against Barcelona, whilst Lionel Messi has scored twice against City and twice against sides managed by Pep.

The stats look really good here, and that’s why it’s my Bet of the Day.

SINGLE: Celtic to Score First v Borussia Monchengladbach – Evens

Celtic have an outstanding record for scoring first at home.

They’ve opened the scoring in eight of their nine home games so far this season and 20 of their last 23. As far as the Champions League home form goes, it’s much the same story.

They’ve scored the opener in their last seven home Champions League ties, and 15 of their last 19. Gladbach have conceded first in their last three away games; including their disappointing 4-0 thrashing at the Etihad Stadium.

DOUBLE: Arsenal HT/FT and Bayern HT/FT – 13/10

Arsenal host Bulgarian Champions Ludogorets Razgrad at the Emirates in their third group match, whilst Bayern Munich welcome Dutch Champions PSV to the Allianz Arena.

The Gunners are in a rich vein of form at the minute, winning five games in a row and eight of their last nine in going unbeaten since the opening day of the season.

They’ve covered the HT/FT market in five of their last six games, including their last three at home during that run.

Bayern are notoriously good at the Allianz Arena in the Champions League. They’ve won 12 of their last 13 home games in the competition, covering the HT/FT market in 10 of the last 12 there.

BEST BET: Messi, Suarez and Aguero: Any Two to Score – 6/4

I hate to agree with someone who’s yet to beat me in a single round of our tipster challenges on Ladbrokes thus far (bang, shots fired), but my best bet of the day has to be any two of Messi, Suarez and Aguero scoring a goal too.

These guys are arguably the three best strikers in the world, so 6/4 on ANY combination of two of them finding the net is a ridiculous price in a match that I can see having a hatful of goals.

SINGLE: Arsenal v Ludogorets – Total Goal Bands, 2-3 – 5/4

We won with this last time I tipped Arsenal in Europe, so let’s go for it again.

8 of Arsenal’s last 11 Champions League ties have finished with either 2 or 3 goals in total, including all four of their most recent home games. From this we can deduce that the Gunners absolutely love a 2-0, 3-0 or 2-1 result in Europe, whether they’re on the losing or winning side.

On a night where most of the big sides are heavy favourites and there isn’t much value to be found, I quite like the look of this happening again at 5/4.

DOUBLE: Celtic v Borussia Monchengladbach BTTS and Bayern Munich -1 handicap – 7/5

Celtic have a brilliant goal scoring record at home, both domestically and in Europe, and they take on a side whose two European away fixtures this season have had four goals apiece.

I’ll be very surprised if either side fail to score in this one, so both teams to score is my first selection.

To form a tidy 7/5 double, I’m going to pair that with Bayern Munich -1 handicap against PSV.

Bayern have covered the -1 handicap in 9 of their last 13 home games in the Champions League, with three of those four failures coming in narrow victories over Barcelona, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

No disrespect to PSV, but they aren’t in the same bracket as those sides and I’m expecting Carlo Ancelotti’s men to brush them aside.

Who’ll win tonight’s battle?
