Manchester United and Manchester City are Britain’s best hopes of success in this season’s Champions League, according to our odds.

The Manchester rivals are both 10/1 to lift the trophy in Kiev next May. Our traders only give Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain a better chance.

Chelsea and Liverpool will both expect to progress to the knockout stages too. But Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic have it all to do in very tough groups.

Here’s a look at how the British sides fared in Thursday’s draw:

Group A: Manchester United

Jose Mourinho will be thrilled with the draw and United are odds on at 2/5 to win Group A. Portuguese champions Benfica are likely to be their biggest threat at 4/1, while Russia’s CSKA Moscow 8/1 and Swiss outfit Basel are down at 10/1.

To qualify:

Manchester United – 1/12

Benfica – 8/13

CSKA Moscow – 15/8

Basel – 11/5

Group B: Celtic

Brendan Rodgers’ side swept all before them in domestic competition last year but they face sterner tests against Bayern Munich and a Neymar-led PSG. Our traders have Bayern at 8/11 to win the group and PSG at Evens. Celtic and Anderlecht are both 50/1 and likely to compete for third and a Europa League spot.

To qualify:

Bayern Munich – 1/33

PSG – 1/25

Anderlecht – 10/1

Celtic – 10/1

Group C: Chelsea

Diego Costa is set to be centre of attention as Chelsea and Atletico Madrid battle for top spot in Group C.  Both sides are 5/4 to lead the standings. Roma have sold key players this summer but still pose a threat at 7/2. Azerbaijani champions Qarabag are 150/1 outsiders in their first Champions League campaign.

To qualify:

Atletico Madrid – 1/5

Chelsea – 1/5

Roma – 11/8

Qarabag – 33/1

Group E: Liverpool

Group E looks set to be a two-way race between Liverpool and Sevilla. The Reds will be relieved to have avoided any of the European giants and are 4/6 to finish first. The La Liga side beat Liverpool in the 2016 Europa League final but are longer at 13/8. We’ve got Russian champions Spartak Moscow at 8/1 and Slovenia’s top side Maribor all the way down at 100/1.

To qualify:

Liverpool – 1/12

Sevilla 1/5

Spartak Moscow – 9/4

Maribor – 20/1

Group F: Manchester City

City are 4/9 to win a trickier Group F and their quality should see them through to the knockout stages. Napoli will push them all the way at 3/1, while Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk and Eredivisie champions Feyenoord are priced at 10/1 and 14/1 respectively.

To qualify:

Manchester City – 1/10

Napoli – 2/5

Shakhtar Donetsk – 2/1

Feyenoord – 5/1

Group H: Tottenham Hotspur

It couldn’t get much harder for Tottenham here. Defending champions Real Madrid are 4/11 favourites to win Group H. Borussia Dortmund are next at 7/2, with Spurs at 5/1. Mauricio Pochettino’s should be confident of finishing above 500/1 Cypriot outfit APOEL at least. They’ll need to get over their problems at Wembley fast to make it through.

To qualify:

Real Madrid – 1/25

Borussia Dortmund – 1/2

Tottenham – 6/5

APOEL – 33/1
