Benfica head into the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie against Borussia Dortmund on the back of a seven-game winning streak, including a 1-0 triumph in the first leg. So we think our traders have missed a trick by offering such long odds on continued success for Rui Vitoria’s men.
Despite netting 14 times and conceding just twice in that seven-game run, the Aguias are priced at a huge 8/1 for victory at Signal Iduna Park, with BvB 4/11 favourites and 15/4 on offer for the draw.
Having chalked up away UCL wins against the likes of Atletico Madrid, Zenit Petersburg and Dynamo Kiev in the past 18 months, that 8/1 is certainly not to be sniffed at…though there’s also excellent value on offer elsewhere.
Greek hitman Konstantinos Mitroglou has netted 13 times in his last 11 games, including grabbing the winner against the Bundesliga outfit in Lisbon.
There’s a sizeable 12/5 on offer for him to net anytime, while it’s 16/1 he nets two or more goals for the eighth time this season.
Meanwhile, with four of Aguias’ last seven wins having come in games which were level at the break, the Half Time/Full Time: Draw/Benfica at 16/1 could prove a savvy selection.
And getting on both teams to score at 17/20 looks like the proverbial ‘banker’. Benfica have scored in 41 of their 42 outings this term, while BvB have netted in 18 of their last 20 games.
With Dortmund likely to at least find the net, the man best priced to do so looks to be Ousmane Dembele at Evens, with the Frenchman having scored in two of his last three appearances.
