Galatasaray striker Didier Drogba has admitted he could be tempted to make a stunning switch to Chelsea if manager Jose Mourinho showed an interest in luring him back to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Drogba’s current deal with the Turkish giants runs out this summer and the veteran forward could be about make a dramatic return to the club where he became an icon.

The 35-year-old Ivorian is set to face his former employers in Galatasaray’s Champions League last 16 first-leg contest at the TT Arena, with the hosts priced as the 3/1 outsiders to triumph.

Chelsea are available at evens to escape Gala’s red-hot cauldron with a vital first-leg victory while the draw is a 23/10 shout.

Drogba has scored twice in European football’s premier competition this season and if he adds to that tally against the Blues, speculation of a reunion with the West London outfit may intensify.

Mourinho’s current crop of strikers have struggled for goals this term, a department where club idol Drogba may be able to provide added impetus given his enduring class and invaluable experience.

Speaking to the Daily Mail he said: “If, and I say if, by any chance it could happen {returning to Chelsea}, it would only be with one team.

“My contract ends this summer and then I will decide what is the best solution for me. But I had a great time at Chelsea and if Jose was saying, “Didier, I want you to come back”, I would think about it.”

A total of 157 goals in 341 games in all competitions was the two-time African Footballer of the Year’s sterling output during an illustrious spell with the Blues.

And while Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba continue to toil in front of goal, fans of the team are always likely to yearn for their former hero.
