Chelsea can gain revenge for their earlier defeat against Basel with a high scoring win in Switzerland.
Despite struggling away from home in the Premier League, Chelsea’s Champions League form away from home has been impressive with a 4-0 and 3-0 victory. Chelsea can do the same to Basel at 12/1 and 5/1 respectively.
Chelsea have 11 goals from their first four fixtures averaging almost three goals per game. With goals almost guaranteed the total goals market appeals. Over 2.5 goals can be found at 3/4, though over 3.5 goals offers better value at 37/20.
Goals are to be expected but they are likely to come in one direction and so a Chelsea win to nil looks tempting at 11/5.
Although Basel have already shocked Chelsea once this season by winning 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho rarely makes the same mistake twice and will not be taking the Swiss champions lightly. Basel have failed to win in the group since that opening day victory whereas Chelsea have gone from strength to strength.
Basel come into this game with just one win in their last five and are 10/3 to come away with the three points here.
If Basel are to score, Marco Streller seems the most likely with eight goals in 11 starts this season. Streller is on offer to score at 8/1.
Chelsea are not shy of options up front and both Torres and Eto’o are 6/4 to score. However Oscar offers greater value at 11/4. He is in fine form with five goals to his name this season, including one against Basel in their first meeting back in September.
David Luiz is another player who seems to enjoy playing the Swiss side. He has scored twice in three matches against the Swiss champions and looks an attractive price to add to that tally at 15/2.
