Jim Furyk disqualified after sleeping through pro-am

Market leader disqualified from The Barclays and lengthens for US money list

Jim Furyk disqualified after sleeping through pro-am

Failing to set the alarm on his mobile phone has cost Jim Furyk a shot at the opening FedEx cup play-off event, The Barclays, and has seriously harmed his chances of winning the FedEx Cup and topping the US money list.

Furyk currently sits in third place on the US money list having made $3.3m dollars this year and is $800,000 behind leader Ernie Els, but with the FedEx purse of $10m still available Furyk had an excellent chance of winning an event he also currently sits third place in.

However, the decision by the USPGA to rule him out of the first of the FedEx play-offs in New Jersey after missing the pro-am due to sleeping in could cost him serious points and because of that he’s lengthened to 10/1 to top the US Money list (without Tiger Woods).

Ernie Els is favourite at 7/4 with Phil Mickelson a close second at 9/4 but Steve Stricker has shortened to 9/1 whilst the betting for The Barclays remains the same.

Luckily Matt Kuchar did set his alarm and our tip earlier in the week is still on course to challenge in the first play-off event at the Ridgeback Country Club.

Costly mistake by Furyk and Stricker looks good value at 9/1 to top the list. See the full US Money List (without Tiger Woods) betting market here.
