Robin Van Persie will line up for his Manchester United debut tonight, and Ladbrokes price the forward at 6/5 to score at any time.

The former Arsenal striker is likely to start as United take on Everton at Goodison Park, and is favoured to kick off his career under Sir Alex Ferguson in style.

Of course, Van Persie’s signing gives Ferguson a wealth of attacking options to select from, with he and Wayne Rooney the most likely strike pairing to be opted for tonight.

In light of this, it is 9/2 that the Dutchman opens the scoring, a price which means he enjoys joint-favouritism with ex-Everton man Rooney to score first in the game.

It is a slightly shorter 7/2 meanwhile that both players notch at Goodison Park, and punters believing this deadly-looking frontline combination will pay instant dividends should invest in that price.

Indeed, the pairing collectively struck 57 Premier League goals last term for their respective clubs, as Van Persie’s haul of 30 with Arsenal saw him land the Golden Boot award.

Of these 30 strikes, two hat-tricks were included, and it is a big 25/1 that Van Persie enjoys a dream debut with a treble tonight too.

Ladbrokes do see it most likely that Van Persie’s first significant contribution will be finding the net, and make it 9/4 that he does so should he start tonight.

9/2 is the price about an assist coming first for the Dutchman, whilst it is 11/2 that he initially receives a card of any colour.

Punters can alternatively have 2/1 regarding Van Persie being substituted before any of the aforementioned events occur, or 7/2 that the 29-year-old completes the full 90 minutes.

His new side are undoubted favourites for tonight’s clash, as last season’s Premier League runners-up find themselves 17/20 shots for an opening victory away from home.

Everton are a big 3/1 in contrast, but as notorious slow starters, they could struggle to even justify the 13/5 price about a draw.
