Samir Nasri believes that people should not be ruling Arsenal out of the title race as there is a good chance they will come on strong in the games taking place over the Christmas period.

Arsenal’s betting odds have slumped to 9/2 to win the Premier League after losing to Manchester United in their last outing, which has seen them fall two points behind the Red Devils in the standings.

The chances of Arsene Wenger’s team have additionally been put down because of the facts that Manchester United have a game in hand at the top of the table.

Furthermore, Arsenal have suffered defeats against other Premier League title contenders Chelsea and Tottenham this season, which has led to questions over whether they have the mental strength to win the league.

However, Nasri feels that Arsenal are being written off prematurely and they should be given until after they have played their next four league games to be judged.

These begin with a home game against Chelsea, before away trips to Wigan and Birmingham and then a home clash with Manchester City.

According to the Sun, Nasri said: “I think the title is definitely within our reach. I really think we have quality and we’ve got the maturity now that we were lacking before.

“We’ll see how we cope with all the matches over Christmas and we will get a clearer idea after that – but I’m full of confidence.”

The omens are not great that Arsenal will take the three points from their encounter with Chelsea next, as they have lost each of their last five meetings with the opposition.

Meanwhile, they have failed to score in each of the last three, including in the 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge in October.

A £10 bet on Arsenal winning the Premier League could see a return of £45. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
