Fulham vs Everton – Hughes can continue unbeaten league form

Everton need a win against Fulham after the Carling Cup proved unpopular with Merseyside teams in midweek.

The Toffees defeat to Brentford has seen David Moyes’ position come under threat, and after being 16/1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave on Wednesday, he’s now 8/1 and that could be a lot shorter come Sunday.

Everton won at Craven Cottage in the 2008/09 season but that result aside, since the inception of the Premier League in 1992/93, the home side has won every other tie between these two.

With Fulham unbeaten in the Premier League after five games, it would suggest that the Cottagers, at 6/4 to win the game, are the home banker of the weekend.

Fulham have one win and four draws from their five games this season, and Everton fans would be happy to come away from Craven Cottage with a draw, priced at 23/10.

Total Goals

Everton have had problems finding the back of the net, scoring just four times at home and are yet to score on their travels.

With Louis Saha, Jack Rodwell and Victor Anichebe all definitely out, and Tim Cahill struggling to recover from a knee injury in time for Saturday’s game, Fulham will be hopeful of just their second clean sheet in ten league matches – they are 2/1 to keep a clean sheet.

Fulham are without Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson and Mark Hughes is short of attacking options, with Eddie Johnson and David Elm the only recognised strikers.

That could mean a spot up front for Zolton Gera or Clint Dempsey, both are 6/1 to get the first goal but with both sides playing midfielders as strikers, a 0-0 scoreline is tempting at 8/1.
