Transfer news – Millwall seal double deal in bid for Premier dream

Millwall have stepped up preparations for their return to the Championship by signing James Harper from Reading for an undisclosed fee, and Ipswich striker Kevin Lisbie on loan.

Harper arrives on a three-year deal following two loan spells at the New Den, while Lisbie joins after spending last season on loan at Colchester.

Victorious in last season’s League One play-off final against Swindon, the Lions are 14/1 to secure a second successive promotion.

Manager Kenny Jackett has already completed the permanent signing of Peterborough striker Shaun Batt, who had been on loan with Millwall since January.

Whereas Millwall are seen as outsiders to go up, one of the Championship’s title favourites, Middlesbrough, have also added to their squad.

Estonian midfielder Tarmo Kink is Gordon Strachan’s sixth signing of the summer, and the 24-year-old is set to join the squad when they return from a pre-season tour to Germany next week.

Elsewhere in the Championship, 6ft 4in striker Clive Platt is the latest player to join Coventry, as manager Aidy Boothroyd continues to rebuild at the Ricoh Arena.

Platt worked under Boothroyd at Colchester, and the 32-year-old brings plenty of Football League experience to a side who are emerging as dark horses for promotion at 14/1.

Burnley have completed the signing of goalkeeper Lee Grant, who has joined on a three-year-deal from Sheffield Wednesday.

Grant worked under Clarets boss Brian Laws at Wednesday, and the 27-year-old will now compete with Brian Jensen for the number one jersey at Turf Moor.

Can Burnley recover from last season’s relegation from the Premier League? They are 11/4 to win promotion this season. See the full Championship 2010/11 Betting Odds market.
