Leicester capture Japanese international defensive midfielder

Yuki Abe completed his move to Leicester City after the Foxes secure the work permit for the Japanses player .

The move was threatened by the player’s failure to make the required international appearances in order to qualify for a work permit but he was approved after appearing in the World Cup.

The Japanese defensive midfielder has represented his country 49 times, and score three goals and Leicester fans will be looking forward to the arrival of an international quality player.

Abe made history in Japan when he became the youngest ever J-League player at the age of 16 in August 1998 and the tenacious midfielder moved to Uwara in what was then a record transfer fee.

Paulo Sousa will be hoping Abe can sure up the Foxes midfield as they currently sit second from bottom and they will need to improve if they are to justify their 28/1 price to win the Championship.

Leicester picked up their first victory of the campaign away to Leeds in the Carling Cup on Tuesday and Sousa would like to build on this when they host Reading in the late kick-off on Saturday and are 5/4 to pick up their first league win of the season.

Abe’s move to the Foxes will be a loss to the Urawa Red Diamonds who currently sit mid-table in the J-League and face a tough tie at home to third place Kashima Antlers on Saturday.

Leicester have made a slow start to the season and a draw against Reading looks the best value at 9/4. See the full Championship League football betting market here.
