Man United v Galatasaray: Goals to go flying in at Old Trafford
Both sides have been scoring for fun with two men at the forefront of their attacks
Galatasaray have started the season in great form ahead of their trip to Old Trafford and a susceptible Manchester United defence should see them able to cause a few problems.
A win for the Turkish champions would be some feat and no one would be more surprised to them claiming all three points than Ladbrokes, who have priced them up at a monstrous 10/1, but there are other markets available for punters to exploit United’s faltering backline.
On-loan striker Umut Bulut has been electric so far this season, netting five goals in four league games and for him to be the first on target, as he has twice been in domestic action, also pays out at 10/1.
United have conceded the first goal in three of the four games they’ve played this campaign which adds temptation to Bulut’s price.
Another great value bet given the early season form of the 29-year-old is the 10/3 on offer for him to net at any time.
A 1/1 shot, both teams to score is the bet where punters could really take advantage. It’s hard to envisage a side that have netted 15 goals in five competitive games this season drawing a blank and, having conceded five goals themselves, the Red Devils are from impermeable.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are massive favourites for the win at 2/7; their attacking prowess set to be enough to paper over the cracks caused by their defensive frailties.
After being rested in their last game, Robin van Persie is in line to make his Champions League bow for United in what is their toughest home fixture of the group stage.
He’s too short at 10/1 to net a hat-trick, but his ability to both score and make goals means backing his side to beat the Galatasaray keeper four times or more, as they did when the sides last met, at 12/5 is a tempting prospect.
It’s also 9/1 for there to be an unconverted penalty in the game. United have missed two on the spin prior to this one and, should they be awarded a spot-kick, will want to avoid this particular treble.
