Ashes Betting Odds

Let the official countdown begin, England have arrived in Australia and the Ashes will soon capture the hearts of both nations once again.

With the first Test of the 2010/11 Ashes series just days away, now is the time to start exploring the online Ashes betting odds, and Ladbrokes is already offering plenty of opportunities for punters to find some value.

England are the holders of the Ashes and will be looking to return from the shores of Australia with the little urn, but the Ashes betting odds are in Australia’s favour.

Being on home territory has seen Australia installed as the 10/11 favourites to win the Ashes series, but the England team will be more confident than ever before as they enter the Test series higher in the world rankings than their Australian counterparts.

Ricky Ponting will lead the Australian side in his seventh Ashes series, and the Australian captain is the 3/1 favourite to be his country’s leading series runscorer.

His opposite number Andrew Strauss also heads the betting at 7/2 to be England’s leading series runscorer but has Kevin Pietersen breathing down his neck, and Pietersen is also 7/2 to be England’s leading series runscorer in the Ashes online betting.

Graeme Swann is seen as the key man in England’s attack and he is 1/1 to be England’s leading series wicket-taker, whilst seamer Mitchell Johnson is 9/4 to be Australia’s leading series wicket-taker.

The first Test will have a huge bearing on the direction of the series and Australia are 11/10 to win in Brisbane on the 25th November, while England are 2/1 to win with the draw available at 11/4.

Ladbrokes also offer Ashes specials markets with England currently 4/5 to retain the Ashes, but they are 40/1 in the cricket odds to clean sweep the Ashes and beat Australia 5-0.
