Two of the biggest stars of the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship are in action during the evening session of day ten at the Ally Pally.

In what will be the final matches before the Christmas break, crowd-pleasers Mighty Mike and The Power are in action and look set to serve up a double treat in north London.

Michael van Gerwen to beat Peter Wright @ 1/8

Dutchman van Gerwen will kick off the evening entertainment against Scot Peter Wright, and is the overwhelming favourite for victory.

Both players overcame their first round opponents 3-0 to set up this clash for the 10th time – with Mighty Mike winning six times and Snakebite recording three victories.

Van Gerwen is the emerging star of the sport and has major pedigree after winning the World Grand Prix earlier this year, while Wright has never been further than the last 16 of this tournament.

Wright can be an unpredictable opponent – much like his ever-changing mo-hawk hairstyle – but 22-year-old van Gerwen will have too much in the locker to lose this one.

Andy Hamilton to beat Terry Jenkins @ 4/6

Two men of great Darts experience go head-to-head in the third-round match-up between Andy Hamilton and Terry Jenkins.

Hamilton is ranked eighth with Jenkins ninth, and this encounter looks set to be close-run to determine who makes the quarter-finals.

The Hammer has a strong record against The Bull, with 11 wins overshadowing five losses, and is set to extend his winning spell and go into the festive break on a high.

Hamilton finished runner-up in the competition last year and will want to put in another performance akin to that this time around.

Phil Taylor to beat Robert Thornton @ 2/7

No man transcends Darts in the UK quite like Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor, having twice being nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.

And despite a slip in form you can expect The Power to put Robert Thornton to the sword when they square off over seven sets.

With an 80% win record against The Thorn, Taylor will be confident of sending the fans home happy for the holidays with an explosive triumph.
