How Twitter reacted to Gary Anderson’s World Darts win

Gary Anderson has become only the fourth player to successfully defend his title following a 7-5 victory over Adrian Lewis in the 2016 PDC World Darts Championship final.

The Flying Scotsman secured back-to-back tournament victories in stunning style with a 170 checkout in the final set putting him within touching distance of another memorable triumph.

Anderson eventually went on to secure the win in what was a breaktaking showpiece, befitting of this year’s event as a whole.

And as you’d expect, Social Media was quick to react.

Here are a few of the highlights:

Dutch star Michael van Gerwen was quick to congratulate his rival.

Sky Sports posted the defining moment of the match.

Fans were full of admiration for Anderson’s achievement.

An incredible tournament reached a thrilling climax.

THAT 170 was also acknowledged.

The Flying Scotsman got a lot of love from his beloved Hibees…

…and we were quick to offer our congratulations too.

Hmm, could this guy be onto something?

Well done Gary Anderson!
