The early rounds of the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship are generally a procession for the favourites as they dismiss the hapless lower-ranked players in brutal fashion.

However, there are still plenty of decent odds to be found and tonight sees a couple of very tasty-looking matches involving some big names that make up a 17/5 double.

First up is the enticing looking clash between Ian White and Mark Webster.

Webster is a former Ladbrokes World Darts Championship semi-finalist having made the last four in 2010 before being hammered 6-0 by eventual winner Phil Taylor.

He’s been disappointing in 2012 though and has struggled to recapture the form that saw him make it to the latter stages of several majors in 2011 (including the semi-finals of the UK Open).

Meanwhile, White has been in excellent recent form, whitewashing reigning two-time world champion Adrian Lewis 6-0 back in September and has made it beyond the last 64 in all bar two of his last eight tournaments.

He saw off Webster 6-2 in a Players’ Championship event earlier in the year and looks a decent shout at 8/11 to make it consecutive victories against the Welshman.

Elsewhere, James Wade – who is currently XX to win the World Darts Championship for the first time – faces Peter Hudson who he has played three times previously in his career.

Wade has lost his last two games against tonight’s opponent and hasn’t really made the impact at the oche that he was expected to – but he should still have more than enough to see off ‘The Rock’ this time.

Wade is well used to the Alexandra Palace atmosphere now and, with Hudson never making it beyond this stage at the World Championships in his career, the 6/5 offered for the 3-0 whitewash looks pretty decent.
