Kevin Pietersen’s torrid few weeks may be drawing to a close after Cricket South Africa gave the all-clear for Pietersen to head back to South Africa in order to find some form in time for the Ashes series.

Pietersen was spectacularly dropped from England’s one day squad, despite being their best player when winning the Twenty20 World Cup, before his Twitter outburst cost him a hefty fine from the English Cricket Board.

Then, in a bid to find some form, he joined Surrey only to be dismissed for a duck on his first-class debut.

All-in-all not a great few weeks for KP and it’s understandable why he seeks a move away from England.

South African provincial team, KwaZulu-Natal Dolphins, have offered Pietersen two games in October against the Warriors and Titans, as Pietersen seeks games to recapture his best form.

This is a somewhat of a home-coming for Pietersen, he made his first-class debut for the Dolphins in 2007 and will join retired Pakistan international Imran Khan and South African International Hashim Amla in the dolphins team.

England will hope that the plot works as Pietersen is without an international century in 18 months and Test captain Andrew Strauss knows he needs an in-form Pietersen if England are to compete down under.

England are currently 9/4 to win the Ashes but their focus will be on beating Pakistan in the Natwest series and they are 2/9 to complete a series victory.

The first ODI between England and Pakistan starts tomorrow. See the full England vs Pakistan ODI betting market here.
