Alastair Cook looks amazing value at 11/4 to be England’s top runscorer in the third one-day game with Pakistan, given his exploits with the bat so far in the series.

Captain Cook has led by example with England suffering a below-par six months by becoming the first ever England skipper to score back-to-back centuries in one-day encounters.

The high scoring of Cook has already hit Ladbrokes hard, based on their offer that if any player scored a century for England in each game, all losing pre-match bets on match betting would be refunded.

And now punters can profit again by expecting him to add another healthy contribution as England look to wrap up the one-day series in Dubai with a game to spare.

This position seems a far cry from recent times, where they have suffered two poignant whitewashes.

Firstly, they were thumped 5-0 in a one-day series in India last year and then were perhaps even more greatly humiliated when Pakistan recent took the recent Test series 3-0.

Therefore, it was no surprise that England were underdogs heading into the one-day series, but they have since proved their first one-day victory was no fluke by producing a largely similar performance to triumph again to ensure that they cannot now lose the series.

To help in this quest, Cook is also available at 2/1 to score a 50 or 5/6 to score a minimum of 31 runs.

Both Pakistan and England’s odds are now 10/11 to win the third one-day clash and it may be time for another England batsman to step up to the party to prove their worth.

Kevin Pietersen has made starts in his two appearances as Cook’s fellow opener, but has so far failed to go on to make a significant score.

He could be the value bet to be England’s top runscorer in the third one-day international against Pakistan at 9/2, while it is 11/8 that a century is scored by any player in the match.
