Sachin Tendulkar is currently destroying the Australian bowling as India look to cancel out Australia’s first innings of 478.
It was a strong start from Australia but Tendulkar, the ICC’s cricketer of the year, is displaying his class once again with his 49th Test century, taking him through the 14,000 Test runs barrier.
On day three, India were 224 for 2 at lunch after Tendulkar had brought up his century with a huge six, and was cruising on 106 when he and batting partner Murali Vijay, on 73, entered the pavilion.
India were still trailing Australia by 254 runs but since lunch, Vijay has batted his way to 118, whilst Tendulkar sits pretty on 142, leaving India just 171 runs behind and 7/2 to win the test in the India vs Australia in play betting market.
But the draw, 2/7, will remain the favourite as the strong batting line-ups of both sides continue to cancel each other out.
It would take a dramatic batting collapse or a very strong bowling performance from India to see the odds shift in favour of an India win, and with Tendulkar in such tremendous form, it’s hard to see the Australian bowling attack finding his wicket.
Tendulkar is currently 5/4 to score 200 runs but is also 4/7 not to make the 200 marker, whilst India are the 1/25 favourites to have the highest first innings score.
Vijay is 4/6 to be the next man out but he is looking comfortable at the crease, and with Tendulkar seemingly cruising, it would take just a small lapse in concentration for the Australian’s to grab Tendulkar’s wicket – he is 11/10 to be the next man out.
A loss for Australia would serverly dent their confidence ahead of the Ashes series and England are available at 9/4 to win the series.
India were strong favourites to win the series and a draw would clinch the series win. See the full India vs Australia betting odds in-play market here.
