Nick Gifford is eyeing a tilt at the JLT Speciality Chase with Tullamore Dew on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival.
The likes of Great Endeavour, The Giant Bolster, Hold On Julio, Junior and Quantitativeeasing are all entered, and at this stage it’s the preferred option for Gifford’s charge, narrowly denied by Massini’s Maguire at Ascot on Saturday.
Gifford said: “He ran a fantastic race. I thought he might get to the winner after the last, as he landed with momentum, but it wasn’t to be.
“We know know he definitely stays three miles, so that’s opened up a few avenues.
“He’ll have two entries at Cheltenham – in the three-miler (JLT Speciality Chase) and in the Byrne Plate
“With the ground as it is, he’s more likely to run in three-miler but if there is rain around he could run in the Byrne Plate.”
