Further drying of the ground at Cheltenham is a concern to connections Clonbanan Lad ahead of the Weatherbys Champion Bumper on Wednesday.
However, his trainer/rider Mikey O’Connor is taking his dual bumper winner across the Irish Sea with the intention of taking his chance.
“I’m leaving tonight with Clonbanan Lad to go to Cheltenham for the Bumper on Wednesday,” said Cork-based O’Connor, whose six-year-old is a general 16-1 chance for the championship event.
“At the moment he runs, but won’t run if the ground dries out further.”
O’Connor was speaking after riding his 300th point-to-point winner on Presenting Rebel at Dromahane.
