Talented hurdler Ubi Ace has been transferred to Jonjo O’Neill’s yard, former trainer Tim Walford said on Tuesday.
The six-year-old gelding was a Listed winner at Sandown in December, and signed off from Walford’s tutelage with a brave second in the John Smith’s Scottish County Hurdle at Musselburgh.
Walford believes Ubi Ace will now be seen in the silks of owner Gay Smith, and would be campaigned for the Vincent O’Brien County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival next Friday.
North Yorkshire-based Walford said on Tuesday: “He’s been sold and has gone to Jonjo’s today.
“I think he’ll now be owned by Gay Smith and will run in the County Hurdle.
“It was with a heavy heart, but the offer was too good to turn down.
“I told the old owner we could buy a few more horses and have enough in the bank to pay for the training fees for a few years.
“I was thinking of running him in the Imperial Cup at Sandown on Saturday, but business is business.”
