Hazy Tom and Vulcanite are set to spearhead Charlie Longsdon’s Cheltenham Festival team.

Oxon-based Longsdon is considered a rising star of the training ranks, and has a fair squad with which to take on the big guns next week.

A smart handicapper on the level, Vulcanite has won once and twice finished second from three hurdling starts, while Hazy Tom has been prolific, winning four of his six outings under Rules.

Longsdon said: “We should have six or seven runners at Cheltenham.

“Vulcanite and Hazy Tom will run in the Supreme, Universal Soldier in the four-miler, Grandads Horse in one of the two-and-a-half-mile handicaps, Magnifique Etoile in the County, and Westbrit in the Triumph.

“The last two are in flying form and I’m waiting on a couple of others in the handicaps.”
