Wladimir Klitschko to beat Tyson Fury

The earmarked rematch for the heavyweight championship of the world is now officially back on, with Tyson Fury taking on Wladimir Klitschko at the Manchester Arena on October 29th.

After Fury pulled out of the original July 9th date citing an ankle injury, contractual disagreements had left boxing fans wondering whether the fight might ever get off the ground.

Now ‘Repeat or Revenge’ as it’s being billed, is back on we are having difficulty splitting the two men in the market, with the champion and challenger both priced up as 10/11 shots.

It will be almost a year after Fury shocked the heavyweight division by ending the 10-year reign of Dr. Steelhammer as the undisputed champion, but the Gypsy King’s biggest problem this time around will be maintaining the same hunger.

Judging by the different tone of the two men on social media, a vengeful rather than complacent Klitschko could be a very dangerous proposition for the unusually muted Gypsy King.

Shortly after Box Nation’s announcement of the fight, the former WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF world champion tweeted this:

Having been kept waiting nearly a year to get his shot at redemption, we can expect the younger Klitschko to be in supreme condition for the bout.

Meanwhile, Fury opted to play it cool and thank promoter Frank Warren and his team for making the fight happen.

The controversial and outspoken British fighter has been back in the gym since late August, but after an incident-filled period since wining in Dusseldorf, which included a provisional suspension for the presence of a prohibited substance, he’ll have to really knuckle down to get in the right shape.

Having executed his game plan so perfectly the first time around, boxing awkwardly, mixing his stance and moving his head so frequently to avoid the jab, Fury will surely be working on many of the same things ahead of the rematch.

It just remains to be seen whether a champion of Klitschko’s calibre turns up with the correct one of his own this time around to counteract and get inside where he likes to operate.

Before now and then we have a few press conferences and the odd superhero costume to look forward to as the rhetoric ramps up.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
