Rajon Rondo’s return to action will help Boston get one over old rivals LA, while Chicago – who are priced as the underdogs for their visit to the capital city – will upset the odds at the Verizon Center and Memphis will overcome the Kings in our NBA treble.
At odds of 3/2 the Bulls are the side that boost the returns on this bet, but adding in safety selections Boston and Memphis will mean a healthy £48.90 return from a £10 stake.
With Washington (18-19) recently beating the Bulls (18-19) and impressing many with a 114-97 victory over reigning champions Miami it is easy to see why the Wizards are priced as 5/9 favourites.
However, a closer inspection of the two sides’ form suggests that the Windy City outfit will emerge victorious at the Verizon Center, having done so on four of the last six occasions.
Chicago are 6-1 from seven and 4-1 since trading Luol Deng to Cleveland and have looked steady on the road, winning four of their last five matches away from the United Center.
Conversely, the Wizards are 4-2 from their last six and have lost four of their last five fixtures in front of a home crowd.
Boston (14-26) and the LA Lakers (14-25) are still two of the biggest names in the league but as their records suggest they are currently trading off past glories, with both sides looking destined to fail in their bid for the postseason.
However, the fame both franchises enjoy ensures this remains a tie to look out for and with the Celtics welcoming Rajon Rondo back from a year-long injury layoff it is the hosts who look set to edge this one.
Boston may have won just once in 10 outings, but the visiting Lakers have lost 12 of their last 13 including a five-game skid on the road.
The hosts have just two victories from 14 games but with both coming in front of their own fans the Lakers look set to lose – yet again.
The Lakers won’t be the only side heading back to California empty-handed with Sacremento (14-23) set to fall at the hands of Memphis (19-19).
The Kings can impress on their day, as former Grizzlie Rudy Gay showed when scoring 33 points in the recent win over Minnesota, but a run of 13 losses in 18 road games hardly inspires.
Sacremento have tried and failed to win all of their last five visits to the FedEx Forum, while the hosts go into the game looking to secure a season-high fifth straight win.
And with the Grizzlies limiting Milwaukee to a paltry 77 points last time out the Kings 13th-ranked offense looks set to struggle.
